Wearing a White Bridesmaid Dress as a Wedding Dress

Bridesmaid dress as a wedding dress?

I'm getting married in March 2017. It will be a second wedding for both of us, so we're keeping it VERY small (immediate family only). I still want to look like a bride, but I can't imagine buying another expensive wedding dress. Has anyone else shopped in the bridesmaid dress section for their gown? Am I crazy?

David's Bridal's sale is going on now and some gowns are marked down to $99.

Nope, not crazy. We both have been married before and wanted a really simple, but beautiful wedding that was small. I also knew I didn't want to wear white so I started looking at bridesmaid dresses.

Also check modcloth, jcrew, Macy's and nordstroms for good options for far less money!

Date twins! There are some cute dresses on Etsy that aren't specifically bridal.

No I think it's a great idea! Especially since DB and I'm sure others carry varieties of white and ivory for bridesmaid dresses. That way you get the simpler, less expensive style you want but you can still be in "bridal white" (if you choose!).

I searched mostly bridesmaid, prom, evening "event" dresses when I started looking. There are a lot of options for a white (or other color) dresses out there. If it's too simple, a beaded belt and veil will do the trick! Also, don't totally rule out "bridal" either. I thought that is what I would have to do too to save money, but I ended up finding my dress at DB in the wedding dresses on sale for $300

You're not crazy, but also you can find non-expensive bridal dresses if you still want to keep the bridal look; have you tried modcloth.com?

Seconding vote for BHLDN. They have some beautiful bridesmaids styles that come in white/ivory/blush as well as affordable wedding gowns.

I think you can definitely use a bridesmaid dress if you like it, but as PP have posted you may find that a sample sale or David's $99 sale is actually cheaper than a BM dress. Check your local bridal stores and ask if they have any samples or sales going on.

I'm planning to try bridesmaid dresses and evening gowns in addition to wedding gowns.

Check out the sale at BHLDN! They usually have several dresses that are considered BM dresses but could easily be used as a wedding dress.

As others have said, David's is also having their $99 sale which may be worth a look
